The University of Texas is recruiting a running back for its 2016 class, according to multiple reports, including the New York Times and ESPN.
Texas Tech is in pursuit of running back Jonathan Grimes, a 6-foot-2, 250-pound athlete from Lubbock who will turn 19 in March, according the Times.
The recruiting news comes after Texas Tech announced last week that it has signed a senior tight end and a sophomore defensive end.
Grimes is a 6’4, 255-pound running back from Texas who played in four seasons at Rice University.
Grimes was a member of the 2013 and 2014 Texas Tech football teams.
Grime committed to Texas Tech last month, according with the Times, citing sources.
He chose the Red Raiders over Texas, Missouri, Florida and Georgia, according ESPN.
He will join the Red Raider’s class that also includes a 2018 quarterback, 2018 defensive end and two 2018 running backs.
