What do you need to know to get an offer from Maryland?
Here are some tips for getting a call from the program.
1.
Don’t expect an offer anytime soon.
This isn’t a recruiting season.
Maryland has an in-state schedule full of tough games, and a strong home schedule.
2.
Be ready for the schedule.
Maryland is expected to play Florida State, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Notre Dame and Louisville in their final three games.
3.
Make your plan to get in contact with your team before you start.
Set up a meeting with your coach or recruiter on the first week of the season.
You may want to send a text message to your coach that states, “I need you to meet with me tomorrow.”
Make sure you also let them know where you’re headed and who’s coming to the event.
4.
Make sure your recruiter is there.
Make them feel welcome by bringing your contact information to the meeting.
Make it clear to them that you’re interested in a position and would like to talk to them.
5.
Don´t wait until after the season ends to talk.
It’s not always a good idea to have a full-blown interview with the coach.
If you are interested in the position, you should take advantage of the opportunities that come your way.
Be prepared for this season and the recruiting cycle.
6.
If a position opens up, it is usually because of a transfer or the addition of another senior.
This season has been very strong for transfers.
Look for offers from other schools.
7.
Maryland offers more scholarships than most other schools, so it’s important to find a way to get a scholarship.
If your school does not offer scholarships, you can try to get some scholarship offers.
8.
Do not sign a National Letter of Intent with Maryland until after they have the season over.
The more time you have with your school, the better chance you have to get one.
9.
Do the best you can for your school.
Make plans for a family, friends and teammates to come and visit you at the school you are attending.
10.
Make a commitment to your school before the season even starts.
Be sure to sign up for the email list of your school and use it for the season ahead.
11.
If they offer a scholarship, get it.
Maryland does not have a lot of scholarships available, so there is a good chance you can get a offer.
Be cautious about signing with a school that has not offered you one.
12.
Maryland recruiting can be frustrating.
This can be especially true for high school prospects.
Some schools can be extremely hard on a high school prospect, and it can be hard to tell what’s going on when you’re on campus.
It is important to remember that there is no hard and fast rule.
There is no magic number, so keep this in mind.
You will get better and better.
13.
If there is any kind of issue with your scholarship offer, it can affect your chances of getting it.
If this is the case, you may want the best offer possible, but don’t let the uncertainty ruin your future.
14.
Maryland isn’t all that far away from being a great program.
It takes time to become good, and there are still plenty of good coaches to go around.
If anything, they are just starting to catch up to other schools on the recruiting trail.
15.
Maryland and other Big Ten schools will start to take notice of the recruiting landscape in the near future.
This year, there is already a lot going on.
Make the most of the opportunity that comes your way and be ready for any changes.
