The department’s review is a response to complaints that Ohio State recruits were targeted by recruiters and were not offered the opportunities they were offered.
The report, which was issued in June, has not yet been made public.
The Ohio State department said in a statement that it was not responsible for any recruitment actions, but that it would continue to work with schools to make sure their recruiting policies comply with federal requirements.
It added that it “will take appropriate action with the potential violations identified.”
The state department has also been investigating potential violations of state laws related to the recruitment of athletes, which could include violations of federal recruiting laws.
In addition to the Ohio State investigation, the department has received complaints from several other schools about the Ohio Athletic Conference’s recruiting policies.
