Georgia State is set to sign five-star guard DeandreAyton to a scholarship.
Ayton, the No. 18 player in the country and the No, 19 prospect in the nation, announced his commitment to Georgia State on Thursday.
Ayton, who is from Philadelphia, is one of four finalists for the 2019 national championship.
“Georgia State has a lot of potential in the frontcourt and this will be my final game before I announce my decision,” Ayton said in a statement released by the school.
“I am looking forward to playing in front of the fans and watching the games live on television.
The game will be televised live on ESPN and I’m sure I will be on the same platform as all of you.”
Georgia State’s 2018 recruiting class had eight commitments, the most for any class since 2010.
That was followed by a 2018 class that had 10 commitments, with three of them being ranked in the top 10 nationally.
Georgia State is one step closer to becoming the first team in Georgia history to win at least 10 games in the first half of the season, which would give it an NCAA-leading 10-game winning streak.
That streak would be tied for the second-longest streak in school history.
