But their average per-game pay is more than $11,000, according to the latest figures from the National Basketball Players Association.
Auburn has the fifth-highest payroll in the nation.
Auburn also has a strong recruiting base.
The Tigers are a perennial contender in the sport.
The last time Auburn played a ranked opponent was 2010, when the Tigers defeated Georgia Southern by 23 points in the Orange Bowl.
The next time the Tigers face a ranked team, they’ll face Alabama in the Crimson Tide’s first game of the season, Sept. 3.
The Tigers have some money left over from last year’s national championship.
They’re expected to receive about $10 million for the 2019 season.
They have a $10.5 million commitment from the Washington Huskies.
The Auburn women’s basketball team also received $7.5 to $9 million in guaranteed money for 2019.
Auburn was expected to spend more than the top 25 teams combined in 2019, but the Tigers were able to take advantage of a lucrative recruiting class that included one of college basketball’s top recruits in DeAndre Yancey.
Yanceys father, Nick, also played for Auburn.
The Huskies received a scholarship from Auburn coach Mark Few, but were able.
to sign several high-profile players.
The school is hoping to add two-star prospect Deandre Jackson to the roster.
Jackson averaged 14.3 points and 6.8 rebounds last season.
He was the No. 3 recruit in the class of 2019.
The Bulldogs were a top-five team last year and will be a top 10 team in 2019.
Tigers coach Mark Richt was also the coach of the Washington men’s basketball program in 2019-20.
The men’s team was No. 1 in the Pac-12.
In 2018-19, Auburn played in the Rose Bowl.
But Richt and the Huskies had to go on the road for the game against Alabama.
Auburn won 31-26.
Richt is now in his third season as the Tigers head coach.
